8' Yacht Tender
Dear John,
I’ve completed my 8 foot yacht tender and I’m very pleased with the result. I’m
an experienced woodworker but this was my first boat. I had plenty
of help from my talented good friend, Al Hamel, of Galway, NY. We found
the plans to be excellent, and the boat went together very nicely. I
used cedar strips for the hull, mahogany with a cedar accent strip for the
gunwales, and bubinga for the thwarts. The bow and curved transom
are capped with mahogany with white pine accents. Bronze hardware is from
Bristol Bronze, and the beautiful spruce spoon oars are from Shaw &
Tenney. I’ve named the boat "Rascal", and she tows
behind my Tanzer 26 auxiliary
sailboat "Rogue". She attracts a crowd wherever we go.
